Fish

Early knowledge of triploid induction results is beneficial for various reasons such as loss of breeding time and loss of experimental fish.  Testing larval tissues and then retesting blood cells at later life stages will allow for estimations of differential survival between diploid and triploid fish.  A flow cytometric method was developed for the identification of ploidy level in larval fish.  This method can be adapted for other fish species and could be used to identify other levels of polyploidy or mosaicism.
